PPWT Coordinator Jerry Bley receives Espy Land Heritage Award

Topsham, Maine (April 1, 2022) — Maine Coast Heritage Trust has named Jerry Bley as recipient of the 2022 Espy Land Heritage Award, an annual award that recognizes an individual, organization, or coalition for exemplary conservation efforts in Maine.

Many PPWT members are not aware that Bley, who has served as Trust Coordinator for more than 30 years, also helps other land trusts as well as Maine families and individuals work toward their conservation goals through his land use and environmental consulting firm, Creative Conservation, LLC.

Bley has has long played a leadership role in Maine's conservation community, chairing Governor Angus King's Land Acquisition Priorities Council in 1997 and co-coordinating Maine’s Land Conservation Task Force in 2019. MCHT Land Trust Program Director Warren Whitney wrote that Bley "has spent decades working to conserve some of the best, most important places in Maine."

Congratulations and well-deserved Jerry!

At Bley's request, Pierce Pond Watershed Trust received a $1,000 share of the Espy Award.
