In Memoriam: Ruth Lee Meader
It is with great sadness that we inform members of the MWWT family that longtime supporter and highly regarded member Ruth Meader passed away on August 11. Wife of MWWT board member and former president Bud Meader, Ruth shared her love of Pierce Pond with Bud and their children and grandchildren.
Ruth so treasured Pierce Pond that she'd told Bud she wanted to celebrate her July birthday each year with him at the Pond. Bud recalled that they spent the day on their favorite island in Upper Pond, swimming and relaxing. In the evening they had a cookout; then they stayed to watch the sun set over Hurricane Mountain, leaving just in time to get back to Cobb's Camps by dark.
We send our deepest sympathies to Bud and the entire Meader family. Ruth's intertwined love for her family and the Pierce Pond watershed shone brightly, lighting the way for future generations to continue to treasure and protect Pierce Pond.
The Maine Wilderness Watershed Trust is deeply honored that Ruth's family has requested that gifts in Ruth's memory be directed to MWWT, to continue its work in protecting and stewarding the watershed she so valued. Gifts can be made online or via mail toMWWT, PO Box 5660, Augusta, ME 04332.
